New Year’s Resolution Retreat
Take time to reflect on the significant events and experiences of the past year and make some positive resolutions for the coming year. Retreat discussions will center around how to discern God’s will for us as we try to make decisions about our immediate and long-term plans. Participants have the option staying an additional night in order to greet the New Year in a prayerful celebration.

The Journey of Lenten Renewal
During the season of Lent, the Church enters into a period of renewal in preparation for Easter. With this retreat, participants will come to a deeper understanding of the role that works of charity, prayer and penance can have in our lives today.
Feb. 11 (4:30 p.m.) through Feb. 13 (lunch)
Easter and the Christian Vocation
Participants in this retreat are able to join with the monks in the observance of the center of the entire year of the Church: The Easter
Triduum. This retreat will be an opportunity for participants to come to a deeper understanding of our faith, while at the same time joining the monastic community in its daily life of prayer and work. Although the retreat ends on Saturday at noon, participants can remain in the monastery for the Easter Vigil.

Summer Monastic Experience
Summer is for many a time of renewal and relaxation, but it not a time to take a “vacation” in our relationship with God. Begin the summer months with this opportunity to experience firsthand the monastic way of life.

Summer Retreats at St. Gregory's
Dates for the 2009 Retreats at St. Gregory's Abbey have not yet been announced.
General Information:
Registration for retreats begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the St. Gregory’s University Residence Hall Lobby. Opening session is usually at 8 p.m. Retreats end by 3 p.m. Sunday. Participants will also be welcome to join with the monks in their common prayer and as much as possible in the celebration of the Eucharist.
Participants will stay in private rooms in the college residence hall, but will share a bathroom with one other participant. All linens are provided. Meals will be in the monastic dining room. Participants will be able to use the swimming pool and the aerobic center in their free time.
Cost for the retreats in 2007 was $75 per person, including lodging, meals, and registration fee. The cost for those not needing lodging is $50. An offering is taken up for the retreat master. Special payment plans may be arranged.

Monastic Experience Retreats
The vocation office of St. Gregory's Abbey hosts several retreats during the course of the year for single Catholic men, age 18-40. These retreats are an opportunity for participants to grow in their relationship with God and learn more about their Catholic faith heritage, while participating in the daily life of our monastic community. There is no cost for the retreats, but registration is required as space is limited. Recommendation from one's pastor or university campus minister is required. Guest Room Information
In his Rule, St. Benedict writes:
"All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ, for he himself will say: 'I was a stranger and you welcomed me' (Matt 25:35)." (Rule of Benedict 53)
For this reason, the community extends every courtesy to all the guests in the tradition of Benedictine monasticism. Guests at Saint Gregory's Abbey include everyone who comes on our grounds, but especially refers to our students and employees, and those who stay at the monastery. St. Gregory's Abbey has two comfortable guest rooms available for reservation by personal guests of the monks and persons who wish to spend short periods of time in retreat at the abbey. Guests are invited to share in the prayer and meals of the monastic community. The guest rooms are equipped with two twin beds and a private bathroom. Contributions for use of the guest rooms are accepted.
