Daring to Live the Challenge of Christwill be led by Fr. Charles Buckley, OSB.  One of the sources for the reflections of this retreat is Why Not?: Daring to Live the Challenge of Christ by William J. O’Malley, S.J.  O’Malley has published nine books addressing modern-day Christians, calling them to find ways to incorporate their faith in Jesus Christ into their daily life.

Fr. Charles Buckley, OSB, professed vows as a monk of St. Gregory’s Abbey on August 15, 1966, and was ordained to the priesthood on June 20, 1970.  He holds a doctorate in Math Education from Columbia University.  He serves as vocation director for St. Gregory’s Abbey and professor of mathematics, in St. Gregory’s University ]

Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening of the retreat (August 6) in the St. Gregory’s University Residence Hall Lobby.  Opening session is at 8 p.m.  The retreat will end by 3 p.m. Sunday.  Participants will also be welcome to participate with the monks in their common prayer and, as much as possible, in the celebration of the Eucharist.Participants in the retreats will stay in private rooms in the university’s Duperou or DeGrasse residence halls, and will share a bathroom with one other participant.  All linens are provided.  Meals beginning with Saturday breakfast will be in the monastic dining room. (A sandwich tray available after the Friday evening session for those who did not have supper.)  Participants will be able to use the swimming pool and the aerobic center in their free time.  They may also visit the Mabee-Gerrer Museum on campus.

Cost for the retreat is $80 per person for early payment, $85 for those who pay at registration. This fee includes lodging, meals, and registration fee.  The cost for those not needing lodging is $50 in advance, $55 at registration.  An offering is taken up for the retreat master.  Special payment plans may be arranged.
